Galerie, Aline Hazarian, and Maison Gerard Celebrate Paris Design Week
An intimate coterie of designers, artists, and collectors came together in the French capital to enjoy champagne and hors d’oeuvres at Hazarian’s glamorous 19th-century apartment
On Tuesday, January 14, a festive group of collectors, designers, artists, and enthusiasts were invited to the sumptuous private residence of designer Aline Hazarian for an intimate soirée to toast another successful Paris Design Week. The evening, hosted by Hazarian, Galerie editor in chief Jacqueline Terrebonne, and Maison Gerard owner Benoist F. Drut, was a special and star-studded occasion where many of the design world’s most illustrious names came together to celebrate one another, the beautiful product debuts and exhibitions throughout the city, and Hazarian’s heritage and multicultural influences.
Guests were invited to peruse Hazarian’s glamorous 19th-century apartment, which was published in Galerie’s winter 2024 issue. Located on a tree-lined avenue a stone’s throw from the Arc de Triomphe, the Haussmann-era residence is tastefully curated with a lavish mélange of Hazarian’s own striking bronze furniture and a formidable fine art collection spanning Max Ernst, Alexander Calder, and Pablo Picasso. Hazarian often splits her time between residences in Dubai, Saint-Tropez, Gstaad, and Beirut, where she has established a foundry, but the City of Lights feels most like home: “Paris and its cultural life suit me.”
That energy was palpable throughout the evening. As attendees sipped on champagne and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres inspired by a blend of French and Lebanese flavors beautifully arranged on the dinner table, Hazarian, Terrebonne, and Drut marveled at the creative energy percolating in the room as a bright indication of another year filled with art and design discoveries. “It was such a magical night that truly brought the pages of Galerie to life,” Terrebonne says. “I loved the mix of guests—art and design, French and American.” Hazarian echoed that sentiment: “It was a true pleasure to host an evening with Galerie and Maison Gerard, where design, art, and conversation came together seamlessly.”
“Aline Hazarian is not only a talented designer, she is also a consummate host,” Drut says. “The flower arrangements that she herself created over the course of two days were placed in every single room. They added an extra touch to the already pretty spectacular and refined home that she and her husband have created over the past few years that features their passionately curated art collection that they built together.”
The event brought together friends and high-profile figures from the worlds of design, art, antiques, and fashion, including Florian Daguet Bresson, Laurent Champeau, Marella Rossi Mosseri, Iván Argote, Andrew Gn, Julie Hillman, Kathryn Ireland, Alexia Leleu, Gay Gassmann, Jean-Michel Othoniel, and Caroline Sarkozy, among others.
