Working as a ready-to-wear designer for ten years, Julie Hillman honed her skills on shape, color, and texture. All those talents now come through in her subtly sumptuous interiors, but perhaps her greatest gift resonates in her ability to combine art and collectible design into serene spaces where each piece participates in forming a fresh harmony.

For this living room, she imagines a work by Cy Twombly, noting, “I like how you feel the delicateness of his hand as it’s moving across the canvas.” But she also sees the possibility for other options: “A room should be ready to accept any artwork you give it. Any true collector is constantly changing the art.”

“A room is not complete without art. The art both speaks of the people that live there and gives a space soul”
