The award-winning designer has been at the helm of the firm founded by her legendary father, Mark Hampton, since 1998 and since that time, Alexa Hampton has distinguished herself and earned a legion of fans for her soigné spaces that elevate traditionalism with a sophisticated wink.

Adding élan to her graceful rooms, Hampton embraces rich wood furniture (like the stunning assortment she debuted with Theodore Alexander at the most recent High Point Market) and leans into jewel tones and saturated palettes, even enveloping a bedroom at the 2021 Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas in a deep red as fiery as her signature lip shade.

Yet, for all her attention to tailoring and detail, she’s also known to throw a little whimsy into the mix, introducing playful prints like a tiger-print wall covering with Gracie, punctuating a home bar with a fish print, or setting a seasonal table in daring shades of pink and purple.

Naturally, her Mother’s Day wish list comes with a hearty helping of savoir faire combined with cheeky fun, as well as truly unique ideas for something special and personalized. “A playlist from each of my children of the top 30 songs they are listening to and loving right now. I’d love to know my children better in this way,” she suggests as one thoughtful way to mark the occasion, while her other hints at more fabulousness to come. “The perfect hand bag for my phone. Oh wait! That’s my current project and the prototype is almost ready to unveil. I’ll tell you more about it when it’s good to go.”

Obelisk Taper Candles

“These Obelisk candles are slim, tall, majestic, and made of black wax. This is the only tapered candlestick I would ever consider using. They speak to my little neoclassical/Egyptian revival/ancient civilization loving heart.”

“The Portofino carafe and tumblers from Quintessence mentally transport me to a chic seaside resort for my own private White Lotus moment (minus the crazy people and the murder, naturally).”

Loie Lamp by Stephen Antonson, sold at Liz O’Brien

Stephen Antonson’s Loie lamp is the modern-day equivalent of the must-have Sirmos lamp of the 80s. It is tremendously chic. Additionally, plaster is always a welcome material in interiors, and with their ascending spirals, these lamps give off great Guggenheim vibes.”
