Following their shocking exit from royal life in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will reportedly return to the U.K. to establish a home base while their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, attend school. The couple had sent shockwaves through the world after announcing their decision to step down from their royal roles to live a private life in Montecito, California.

But despite the move, the couple, who kept their Duke and Duchess titles given to them by Queen Elizabeth on their 2018 wedding day, plans to maintain both a home in Portugal and the Montecito mansion, according to People’s exclusive report.

The couple purchased the $14.65 million home in the exclusive California suburb in June 2020, with Markle eventually launching her lifestyle brand, As Ever, inspired by their surroundings.

Since then, Markle has shared glimpses into their life on the property on her Instagram page, but the couple has gone to great lengths to keep their private life guarded. In her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan Markle opted to film at a nearby rental with a feel similar to their home rather than invite cameras into their family’s quarters.

The move does not signal a reconciliation between Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, but it does come on the heels of the family’s recent trip to the U.K., where the children reunited with King Charles for the first time in more than four years. The king is said to have been informed of the couple’s decision last week.
