This Swanky $77 Million Trophy Penthouse Overlooks London’s Hyde Park

Perched atop Park Modern, one of the city's most coveted luxury developments, this eight-bedroom residence spans 6,800 square feet and has a deep wraparound terrace

The number of developments in London have skyrocketed over the past year as those from Asia, Europe, and the United States seek to park their cash in London’s stable property market. That means the demand for super-prime, luxury developments—chock full of impressive, hotel-like amenities—is on the rise, and one of the most sought-after luxury condo buildings in the city is Park Modern, a curvilinear, 10-story boutique residential building designed by architect Lee Polisano of PLP Architecture.

Park Modern sits at the edge of the lush Hyde Park and has just 55 residences and three penthouses, which were recently unveiled by the site’s developer Fenton Whelan. However, the crown jewel of the residential building is the marquee penthouse, which just hit the market for an incredible $76.5 million (or £60 million). The south-facing penthouse, situated on the 10th (top) floor, overlooks London’s iconic landmarks, including Kensington Palace and Hyde Park, a 350-acre, Grade I-listed urban park that has been a cradle for free speech and the venue of London’s most iconic concerts from Queen and the Rolling Stones, to name a few.

While London has no shortage of record-breaking luxury real estate, this penthouse is certainly in a class of its own. It’s like a private mansion in the sky, with 6,800 square feet of interior space and a 2,400-square-foot wraparound terrace, which is the largest private terrace in all of Central London, according to the developer. There are eight en suite bedrooms and two additional powder rooms. Beyond the grad entry foyer is the sun-drenched great room. There are curved floor-to-ceiling windows that almost seem to disappear, as well as high, arched ceilings that soar nearly 11 feet high.

The great room features a dramatic U-shaped marble fireplace and a full, backlit bar that looks plucked from a posh five-star hotel. The bar is topped with Mero Marquina marble and has bespoke joinery shelving to display your most precious tipples and glassware. This massive living space also connects directly to the terrace, featuring ample space for seating and sunbathing, so you’re never too far from the outdoors. Off the living space is the 20-seat formal dining room with a dining table swatched in veined marble and a pendant chandelier. There’s also terrace access from this dining space, perfect for indoor-outdoor cocktails and entertaining.

Opposite the living area, the chef’s kitchen features a marble-clad island and a breakfast bar, as well as state-of-the-art appliances, plus a professional catering kitchen. The amenities within this penthouse are hard to come by in other London apartments and include a movie room; dedicated wellbeing terrace for private Pilates, personal training, or yoga classes; and a multipurpose room that has office space, a games area, and a library.

The primary suite may as well be its own apartment, and even has a private entrance lobby. It’s lined with a curved glass wall that opens to a private terrace and has a freestanding ocean blue-hued bathtub, an oversized shower, and stunning views. There’s also a glistening walk-in closet the size of a designer boutique with superyacht-inspired features like lacquered wood and a water droplet-esque chandelier. The additional bedrooms feature equally as beautiful spa-like bathrooms and closet space, including a guest suite that has a private elevator entrance for the ultimate privacy.

Should you ever want to leave the comfort of your plush penthouse, the building has shared resort-like amenities including a sleek gym, indoor pool, private movie theater, a spa and salon managed by Rhodium, and an on-site restaurant, Park.

Park Modern’s Penthouse is listed for $77 million (or £60 million). See more photos below.
