1. Dom Pérignon Pays Tribute to Artist Jean-Michel Basquiat with Special Edition Bottle

Dom Pérignon is honoring legendary artist Jean-Michel Basquiat with a release of its special edition Vintage 2015. The tribute includes a custom label on the 2015 Vintage that features artwork inspired by Basquiat’s In Italian (1983). The vibrant artwork is celebrated in both the bottle’s label, and three unique gift boxes, with each depicting a different section of the painting. The emblem also features Basquiat’s famed three-branched crown. The Champagne Maison said the tribute honors both its relentless pursuit of creative renewal and Basquiat’s raw and itinerant energy, with each finding a delicate balance between structure and freedom, and precision and improvisation. “At their core, both Basquiat’s work and Dom Pérignon’s wines embody a shared desire to challenge the status quo and inspire through their unique visions,” the company said. In addition to the special-edition boxes, Dom Pérignon is also unveiling an exclusive “uberpiece,” a collector’s item created in collaboration with Artestar, and available in only eight pieces worldwide. Each uberpiece will feature a completely bespoke design and unique presentation separate from the tribute boxes. The special edition Vintage 2015 is currently available at select retailers.—Alexandria Sillo

4. La Prairie Launches Sleekly Packaged Longevity Face Cream

As art world travel ramps up over the next few weeks, skincare is more important than ever. However long-haul flights, a frenetic circuit of parties, and that extra glass of Champagne are no match for the newly released La Prairie Life Matrix Haute Rejuvenation Cream. Based on the most advanced longevity treatments from the famed 90-year-old Swiss spa, the new introduction from La Prairie addresses the root cause of aging by using cellular technology to increase collagen and produce denser skin tissue. As a result, skin not only looks younger but is younger at the cellular level. And the formulation isn’t the only thing that’s advanced, so is the packaging’s sleek and futuristic design with a diamond-polished mirrored aluminum surface that resembles a perfectly balanced sculpture.—Jacqueline Terrebonne

6. Simon Porte Jacquemus Curates Whimsical Exhibition of François-Xavier Lalanne’s Work at Christie’s

From Oct. 4-8, Christie’s New York has been transformed into a dreamy surreal world of François-Xavier Lalanne thanks to French fashion designer Simon Porte Jacquemus, who has curated an assortment of pieces by the dynamic 20th century sculptor from the collection of his daughter, Dorothée Lalanne. Offering a fresh perspective on the iconic pieces, there is a room inspired by an artist’s studio desk, complete with papers strewn across the floor and sketches mid-creation pinned up on the wall behind. (The sketches are prints of original drawings by the French master, a wonderful contextual addition.) The main space is filled with golden wheat—the scent fills the air creating a unique olfactory experience of nature in the normally sterile auction house rooms—where a plant-covered turtle and a monumental bear (Très Grand Ours, 2009, estimated to sell for between $2-$3 million) have made their temporary home. Elsewhere is a water room, the sound of trickling water fills the space containing a fish and other water animals. The single-owner live sale will take place on October 10 at Christie’s, which set the record for Lalanne last year with Rhinocrétaire I (1964) selling for $19,418,556. “It seemed very natural that Simon Porte Jacquemus would create the exhibition for this auction; his own work is so playful, so full of light and joy, and as unexpected as François-Xavier’s work,” says Dorothée Lalanne.—Lucy Rees
