For Italian fashion maestros Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, black is the most powerful and overwhelming color—a hue that encapsulates the sense of drama that the Dolce & Gabbana brand is known for. A new large format book published by Rizzoli, Nero: The Color of Dolce & Gabbana, celebrates the power of black by taking readers on a creative and artistic journey.

Since the 1950s, Dolce & Gabbana has had a profound connection with the southern Italian city of Sicily, and this book sheds light on that influence through an assortment of striking documentary imagery of everyday scenes and people. Juxtaposed throughout are famous campaigns and editorial shoots by some of most important fashion photographers, including Sergio Larrain, Ellen von Unwerth, Gian Paolo Barbieri, Helmut Newton, Peter Lindberg, and Paolo Roversi, to name a few.
