5 Events Not to Miss at High Point Market

High Point Market, the largest home furnishing trade show in the world, kicks off this weekend. The four-day event takes place every spring and fall in the furniture capital of the world, High Point, North Carolina. The semiannual show attracts 75,000 attendees and boasts more than 2,000 exhibitors from across the home decor industry.

Despite a less-than-ideal weather forecast, there’s plenty to look forward to at this year’s fall market. Here, Galerie rounds up the must-see talks, events, and product launches.

— Andrew Dent, executive VP of research and chief material scientist for Material ConneXion, will be giving a keynote speech on Monday. Dent’s address will coincide with the launch of High Point’s newest year-round resource for the home furnishings industry, a Material ConneXion resource library. The new library will be the largest on the East Coast beyond the company’s New York headquarters. The High Point location brings yet another innovative global resource to the epicenter of the home furnishings industry. October 15, 3 p.m. – 4 p.m.; High Point Theatre, Transportation Terminal

— Known for his glamorous interiors for celebrities, designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard has teamed up with Corbett Lighting to bring his signature aesthetic to a series of more than 25 chandeliers, pendants, and sconces in a range of finishes. The collection will make its debut at the fall market.

— Fabricut, the maker of fine fabrics, trims, and wallcoverings, is now taking on furniture. Fabricut Furniture will launch at High Point, with over 60 transitional handcrafted pieces, each with more than 150 options for upholstery. — Kravet will celebrate its 100th anniversary with the launch of the book Inspired Design: 100 of the Most Important Designers of the Past 100 Years. October 14, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.; Kravet in Market Square

— Plant Seven, High Point’s new, 100,000-square-foot center for innovation and culture, will have a soft opening during fall market. The new center boasts coworking space, a café, retail, gallery space, photo studio, event space, and the new Material ConneXion library. Plant Seven, which was made possible through private donations and a $1.5 million state-funded grant, is in a renovated 100-year-old mill. October 12, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.; 410 West  English Road
