Taking cues from a Miles Davis classic and the entry of her childhood home, Avery Cox of Avery Cox Design rendered a listening lounge in Benjamin Moore’s Robins Nest, then layered in textiles in complementary hues by Rubelli, Holland & Sherry, and Cullman and Kravis; window treatments by The Shade Store; and inspired furnishings sourced from Bunny Williams Home, James Showroom, Casa Branca, and J.M. Szymanski.

To craft their “little room of light,” bureau interior architecture | design focused on both inspired examples of illumination as well as pieces with a visual buoyancy. Here, a custom fixture by Ben Tuna of Glass Visions Studio reflects off the walls enveloped in Dedar silk while the hidden accoutrements—such as a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator clad in a Jerry Pair leather—give the intimate area major impact.

Using two monumental sculptures of Apollo and Artemis as touchstones, Christopher Architecture & Interiors crafted an inspired kitchen with mirrored tile from Tile Bar, Romo and Pollack fabrics, and Paolo Moschino lighting. Kingdom Woodworks custom cabinetry enhanced with Classic Brass hardware juxtapose the expressive Francois & Co. stone surfaces.

The bold Emerald Room by Design by Tula commands attention with its lacquered walls, velvet upholstery, and hand-blown glass chandelier, while the adjacent lady‘s lounge casts a warm, rosy glow with Pierre Frey fabrics, Made Goods tables and accents, and other furnishings by Arteriors.

Returning to Kips Bay Dallas, Doniphan Moore of Doniphan Moore Interiors orchestrated a lyrical salon for a pair of imagined Texas collectors. Subtly finished walls by Casci Plaster join a painterly de Gournay wallpaper, the compilation a dulcet backdrop for a curated collection of sculptural furnishings and punctuating hearth by Il Granito.

Game tables were everywhere at the most recent High Point furniture market. Here, a dashing mahjong table with a Hermès game set shapes the “Moonlight Pavilion” by Ellerslie Interiors. Glamorous Asian embellishments like a copper dragon bench by Robert Kuo, 1927 Art Deco chair by Pagoda Red, and Schumacher moiré silk evoke 1930s Shanghai.

For their Kips Bay space, Fleming Peters looked to unfinished William Morris drawings found at the Huntington Library in California, where studio founder and artistic director Clare Fleming Peters was a former director of corporate fundraising. Showcasing a completed design by Morris & Co, the patterns cover walls, windows, and ceiling while punctuating Hector Finch lighting add moments of sparkle.

Taking cues from Babe Paley’s Billy Baldwin-designed living room in New York, J.D. Ireland Interior Architecture & Design crafted a conversation room with curtains made from a Sandra Jordan textile, a customized Porter Teleo pendent, Mous seating, and exuberant antiques and accents.

The site-specific installation by Jean Liu Design with German artist Florian Meisenburg melds Renaissance architecture with futuristic visual interest. Dotting the arresting grid are eye-catching artworks, creating a daring dialogue between past, present, and next generation.

A hallway becomes a metaphor for arrival under the guidance of Joshua Bernard Design who coated the space in a deep, earthy shades of black and brown then accented the interior with pieces by Arteriors. In the adjoining bath, a creative mix of decorative elements by Holly Hunt, Artistic Tile, and Kohler reflects the designer stepping into the spotlight.

A dynamic assortment of art installed against hand-painted Studio E wall coverings sets the tone for the study by Katharine Pooley. Center stage is a bust of her father, Robert Pooley, as well as a handsome bespoke desk by Parkway England topped with a Holly Hunt blotter, Abask accessories, and an Alexander Lamont table lamp. From the Soane Britain chair, this dream client could take in the vibrant surroundings of de la Cuona fabric, Vaughan lamps, and a striking drinks cabinet from David Gill Gallery, outfitted with William Yeoward crystal.

To decorate the terrace, Lisa & Leroy drew influence in “the poetry of form,” selecting furniture and planters with sinuous shapes and patterns awash in geometric designs including examples by Perennials, Sutherland, Pooky Lighting, Century, Jiun Ho, cultivating an area for connecting and conversation.

Evoking the ambience of a Paris salon or welcoming Highland Park living room, Mohon Interiors cultivated a sultry interior for an evening cocktail in front of the Marmi stone fireplace. A curtain of pearl-like metal beads surrounds a Berman|Rosetti table for quiet repose, while a teal John Saladino sofa and custom chaise promote more convivial entertaining.

Mrs. Paranjape Design + Interiors cultivated an exercise in exuberance by saturating their spaces in decadent jewel tones—emerald Tile Bar tile, a serpentine Phillip Jeffries wallpaper on the ceiling, and Benjamin Moore paint outlining it all. An antique sideboard from Nick Brock & Company sits on a carpet from Arsin Rug Gallery while a custom fragrance by Les Fumées completes the sensory experience.

Drinks will be served at the bespoke burl bar Nicole Gordon Studio crafted for her “Overlook Hideaway.” Here, a fantasy client can host a round of cards at the custom lacquer game table or just unwind on the cotton velvet sofa next to an Elliott Hundley table beneath a dazzling chandelier by Max Ingrand for FontanaArte from Donzella.

Starting with a painterly de Gournay wallpaper discovered in Paris, Nicole Zarr conceived an atmospheric martini bar with a chocolate and daffodil palette. A striking Jamb light fixture and Hudson Valley Lighting sconces overlook a banquette in a Rubelli fabric, Rose Cumming chairs, and Nick Mele photographs.

One of the newly introduced Bunny Mellon wallpapers from de Gournay, customized in a unique colorway, envelops the dining room by Paloma Contreras Design. Here a table covered in a Schumacher chintz is surrounded by Maison Drucker rattan chairs and a Highland House sofa, while drapery by The Shade Store is made using a fabric from the designer’s collection with Schumacher.

In a nod to New Orleans after dark, Samantha Fisher Studio dressed a passageway in an atmospheric Colette Cosentino mural then installed furnishings by Made Goods, a custom bench upholstered in a Romo fabric, and art by Karen Hawins Studio and Mark Ziegler. Celestial cues come from the Paper Moon hanging shades by Barbara Barry and Moon tables by Ochre from Sutherland.

Sarah Stacey Interior Design crafted her Kips Bay space by looking to a wide range of influences, including medieval Bavaria and the Schiaparelli runways. Selecting items such as a one-of-a-kind rug from Arsin Rug Gallery, antique Murano chandelier, vintage Milo Baughman chairs dressed in a Dedar textile, and vintage art hung on a Robert Kime picture rail, help define a room as original as the 3D printed Hell’s Mouth fire surround that serves as the room’s most visually arresting focal point.

In keeping with Kips Bay tradition, Shane & Pierce went all out on the stair that’s lined with a custom JD Staron runner and lit with fixtures by Pooky, Studio Van Den Akker, and J.M. Szymanski. On the landing, an Avenue Road sofa tops an Armadillo rug while artwork by Ben Medansky, Lauren Williams, and more sourced from J. Williams Fine Art creates a dynamic gallery.

Envisioning a family determined to restore a centuries-old Château Laurent in the French countryside, Shannon Bowers Designs cultivated a dining room bookended by contemporary tables surrounded by antique chairs reworked in a striped cotton.

Studio Eckström crafted a drawing room for the fictional character Jack Trotter, a former footman elevated through the ranks with a prevalence for Old World grandeur. Here, Vaughan lighting, Samuel & Sons passementerie, and rugs by Patterson Flynn, Kyle Bunting, and Arsin Rug Gallery give way to Porter Teleo hand-painted wallpaper, and creative textiles by Pierre Frey, Mokum, and Brunschwig & Fils.

To create their “Belvedere Room,” Studio Thomas James found inspiration in Piero Portaluppi’s famed Villa Necchi Campiglio. A dazzling Donghia chandelier anchors the room which is set with a sofa, club chairs, and bench by the brand, as well as handsome Thomas Pheasant for Baker cocktail tables, Phillip Jeffries wall coverings, and thoughtful mix of art.

Tracery Interiors turns up the volume with the exuberant “Lion Queen” room which utilizes an expressive mix of rugs and Made Goods furniture, coupled with lighting and seating by Arteriors to cultivate a daring yet welcoming atmosphere.

For a convivial parlor that flows to the main-floor terrace, Yates Desygn selected timeless furniture pieces with sharp angles that contrast a palette like cocktail table. Materials inform so much of the space—from the paneled walls and parquet flooring to the dashing custom striped drapery by The Shade Store to a shimmering brass mesh ceiling structure that adds a heady dose of panache.
