Tai Ping and Edward Fields Debut Artful New Manhattan Showroom
Galerie joined brand collaborators Fernando Mastrangelo and Yolande Milan Batteau alongside members of the New York design community to toast the new space crafted by Gensler
How to craft a showroom that beautifully displays product while also cultivating a convivial, creative atmosphere that makes designers and their clients want to linger has long been a challenge, particularly in New York, where real estate comes at a premium. On Wednesday, September 30, Galerie joined the team at Tai Ping and Edward Fields to inaugurate their new showroom in the Architects & Designers Building at 150 East 58th Street.
Inside the glamorous space crafted by the team at Gensler, the collections of Edward Fields and Tai Ping are showcased in the same studio for the first time.
Joining Galerie publisher and chief operating officer William Pittel and executive managing editor Jill Sieracki for the event as well as Tai Ping’s U.S. Managing Director Kate Judd were designers Fernando Mastrangelo and Yolande Milan Batteau, whose rug collections were featured in the space. Members of the New York design community, including Josh Greene, Leyden Lewis, Francis Toumbakaris, Ries Hayes principal David Ries and studio director Emily Meroney, Jeff Lincoln, and John Ferguson—fresh from his standout room at the Kips Bay Decorator Show House—joined a creative crowd dancing late into the evening to the soundtrack cultivated by vinyl DJ Mihoko.
Also seen in the mix were photographer Genevieve Garruppo, Design Leadership Network executive director and CEO Michael Diaz-Griffith, and Studio S II principals Erica Sellers and Hanna Propst, who created the dazzling large-scale lighting design in the center of the gallery.
Further elevating the scintillating evening was a decadent mix of heady cocktails—such as a refreshing Oolong Fizz and a raspberry-and-whiskey potable, The Blinker—and passed hors d’oeuvres by Sandy Ho. Decadent bites, like the St. Agur blue cheese cookies, mushroom arancini, and mini raspberry dome, were served on cards depicting the painterly Tai Ping and Edward Fields rugs that inspired their Instagram-worthy look.
