With interiors masterminded by Nicole Hollis, the beachfront residence in the Hawaiian community of Kukio is composed of three structures, with the rear of the main house opening up to a lawn and an infinity pool looking out to the ocean beyond. Noted architect John Hara designed the home, with architectural firm Walker Warner undertaking modest structural updates and gardens by Jay Warner Landscape Architecture.

Pierre Paulin swivel chairs from Ralph Pucci surround a teak-root cocktail table in the lounge, where a Robert Lee Eskridge painting hangs above the custom travertine-top teak bar and Cristián Mohaded woven-fiber sculptures perch next to a cast-glass cabinet by Christophe Côme.

The homeowners commissioned the John Koga bronze sculpture that stands in the courtyard.

A hanging daybed by Hollis offers a spot for quiet repose at one end of the great room lanai.

In the dining area, Hollis installed Scott Daniel pendants above a Jerome Abel Seguin table from Ralph Pucci and vintage Pierre Jeanneret chairs. Storage is provided by a George Nakashima cabinet and a Bruno Moinard Éditions sideboard, the latter surmounted by a D. Howard Hitchcock painting of a volcano from 1894.

The ceramic sculpture by Jun Kaneko was acquired along with the home from the previous owner.

In a guest room, an Elisa Uberti lamp for Stahl + Band stands on a vintage Arne Vodder desk; the Nakashima chair is from Design Within Reach.

A Pegge Hopper painting enlivens the primary bedroom, where Hollis designed the teak dresser cabinet and the walnut bed featuring integrated nightstands and a monumental slab headboard with a pair of Liaigre sconces; 1960s George Nakashima lounge chairs join a Liaigre table.

The primary bath features an outdoor shower area with Dornbracht fixtures and a Manos by Concreteworks cast-concrete tub on a custom slatted teak mat.
