Pablo Picasso’s Quatre Baigneuses sold for $3,420,000, far exceeding its presale estimate of $600,000 to $800,000.

The top lot of “Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection” at Christie’s, Les Poseuses, Ensemble (Petite version) by Georges Seurat hammered at $149,240,000—the highest price ever achieved for any Impressionist or Post-Impressionist work of art.

Setting a new record for Paul Cezanne was La Montagne Sainte-Victoire, which realized $137,790,000.

Jasper Johns, Small False Starts, 1960, also set a record for the artist, bringing $55,350,000.

Far exceeding its early estimate of $6,000,000 to $8,000,000 was White Rose with Larkspur No. 1 by Georgia O’Keeffe, which brought $26,725,000.

Paul Gauguin, Maternité II, 1899, was one of five works to surpass $100,000,000 selling for $105,730,000, more than double the artist’s previous auction record.

Birch Forest by Gustav Klimt realized $104,585,000 in the November 9 sale at Christie’s of “Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection.”

Also surpassing the $100,000,000 mark was Vincent Van Gogh’s Verger avec cyprès, painted in Arles in April 1888, which achieved $117,180,000.

A new auction record was set for a work by Andrew Wyeth when the artist’s Day Dream (1980) sold for $23,290,000, far outpacing its early estimate of $2,000,000 to $3,000,000.
