Heritage Italian lifestyle brand Sferra has landed Stateside, brining its high-thread-count linens and bedding, as well as other covetable home accessories, to New York City. As the company’s first ever global flagship, the Sferra Townhouse encompasses more than 2,600 square feet within a 1853 Italianate-style structure in the Flatiron neighborhood. This new chapter represents a full-circle moment for the company, since its founder, Gennaro Sferra, lived in a similar style home less than a mile away when he first moved to Manhattan at the turn of the last century.

The new retail destination is also significant since the brand recently launched an array of new product categories, among them rugs and loungewear, all of which will be showcased throughout the store. Notably, the Townhouse will also include a slate of limited-edition and one-of-a-kind items available nowhere else, as well as a display of archival materials and a private studio for interior designers to host clients.

Founded in northern Italy in 1891, Sferra is perhaps best known for its signature 1,020-thread-count sheets, which were heralded as a game-changer in the bedding industry when they were introduced some two decades ago. The company’s offerings have since grown to include rugs, mattresses, tabletop accessories, decor, robes, and other gifts—all of which carefully uphold the brand’s rigorous craftsmanship standards that date back more than three centuries in Italy’s Alpine foothills.

“It was important to reach the right balance for the expression of Sferra while celebrating the historical significance of the existing architecture of the townhouse,” said Lisa Monteleone, founder of Studio Monteleone & Associates, which oversaw the store’s interiors. “The inserted design and materials are a canvas to exhibit the products that furnish the Sferra Lifestyle, with an evenness between the historic space and what our client’s consider home today.”
