Life Imitates Art: A Dior Jewelry Box Reflects the Zesty Work of Beatriz Milhazes
Discover how life imitates art in unexpected moments of visual synchronicity
Paying homage to Christian Dior’s long-standing friendship with artists, Cordelia de Castellane, artistic director of Dior maison, introduced CD Entrelace, a grouping that includes this artful jewelry box, which displays the couturier’s initials in intricately rendered straw marquetry.
The zesty, mural-like artwork of Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes reverberates with cascading patterns and kinesthetic geometry in saturated colors, as seen in Roda Coração III (Heart Wheel) (2021). The artist is the subject of a solo exhibition at the Guggenheim in New York through September 14.
