Kate Winslet Lists Serene New York Penthouse for $5.7 Million
The Oscar winner’s sun-filled duplex is located in the heart of West Chelsea
For the past 16 years, Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet has owned this sun-splashed Manhattan duplex, perched atop a five-story boutique condominium in the heart of West Chelsea, a stone’s throw from major art galleries like Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, and David Zwirner.
Spread across 3,000 square feet, the four-bedroom residence is anchored by a cavernous great room spanning the entire width of the building—nearly 50 feet across—as well as windows on three exposures: north, east and south. (A minimalist kitchen with a wood-topped island also adjoins the space.)
In addition, the main floor features a trio of bedrooms, including a generously portioned primary suite equipped with a walk-in closet and monochromatic white bath. Upstairs, a space currently configured as a lounge can also easily be turned into another bedroom or home office. Best of all, it connects to the sprawling rooftop terrace that spans 1,700 square feet and boasts dazzling city views.
It’s not clear why Winslet, who resides largely in England with husband Edward Abel Smith, is parting with her longtime property, but Variety reports that she has primarily used the home as an income-producing rental. It was last on the market in 2017 for $20,000 per month.
The home is listed for $5.7 million with Cynthia Jacinta Keskinkaya of Douglas Elliman. See more photos below.
