Karl Lagerfeld’s Former French Country House Lists for $3.2 Million
The late fashion icon staged several photo shoots for Chanel in the gardens at Manoir du Mée
An elegant country house with ties to both Princess Caroline of Monaco and the late fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld has hit the market for $3.18 million. Known as Manoir du Mée, the rare property is located just under an hour outside of Paris and features seven bedrooms, with each offering stunning views of the 1.2-acre gardens. The gardens and home were notably featured in several Chanel photoshoots during Lagerfeld’s tenure as creative director for the fashion house.
In addition to the main house, the property also features a guest house with a vaulted wine cellar, library, kitchen, two bedrooms, two baths, and an expansive artist studio. There is also a nine-car garage on the property.
Built in 1749, Lagerfeld renovated and redecorated the home while hosting numerous fashion shows and the aforementioned photo shoots on its grounds. He sold it to Princess Caroline of Monaco in 1998, who, in turn, hosted prestigious receptions and large parties in the six years she lived there. The home is currently listed with Alexis Feyfant of Plya Paris.
Lagerfeld, who remained creative director at Chanel until his February 2019 death, recently made real estate headlines when his former Paris office was made available for overnight bookings. The futuristic space located in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés is now part of the Highstay Collection and has been reimagined as a multi-level residence, but maintains the fashion icon’s sophisticated vision.
