The Oscar-winning actress and Goop founder is parting with her Zen-inducing Brentwood estate in an effort to downsize now that her children have graduated

You wouldn’t be wrong to assume that Goop founder, actress, and health aficionado Gwyneth Paltrow’s home would be a fantasia of high-tech gadgets, biohacking devices, or quirky instruments used in the pursuit of all things health. And while it is certainly Goop-approved when it comes to health and wellness, her 12,700-square-foot Brentwood home in Los Angeles is first and foremost a tranquil, light-filled oasis that embodies the very aesthetic she has so carefully cultivated.
Paltrow first bought the home—a 1950s remodel—in 2012 with her ex-husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, and their two children. Now that her youngest child, son Moses, graduated from high school, Paltrow has listed the home for a cool $30 million. According to WSJ, Paltrow is selling in an effort to downsize now that her children have left home, and also because she and current husband, producer Brad Falchuk, recently completed a new residence in Montecito, California. This Los Angeles dwelling is situated on a little more than half an acre and is hidden behind high hedges and ensconced by verdant foliage and towering trees that offer the ultimate privacy, A-lister or not.
After purchasing the property in 2012, Paltrow tapped interiors firm Windsor Smith to upgrade the abode with design details and features more aligned with her personal style. The original charm of the existing structure is there, but it’s been lovingly elevated with reclaimed wood floors, moldings, patterned stonework, French doors, and vaulted ceilings.

The single-story house contains eight bedrooms and 11 baths, ideal for a large family. The heart of the home is the vaulted living room, which features light-wood wall paneling and folding pocket doors that open to the backyard. There are many cozy places to enjoy, including the bright, open-plan sitting room that wouldn’t look out of place in a chic Parisian apartment. The vibe is cozy yet elegant—with soaring ceilings, vintage light fixtures, and French doors that lead outside. There’s also a less-formal family room equipped with a wood-burning fireplace, built-in shelving, whitewashed shiplap walls and ceilings, and a bar. Nearly every room connects to the outdoors, so the new occupants will never be too far from nature.
Fans of Goop know that the kitchen is likely one of Paltrow’s most utilized spaces—and this chef’s kitchen certainly does not disappoint. The health-conscious guru is known for her nutritious recipes and has written several cookbooks, so it comes as no surprise she spends hours cooking and entertaining in the calming kitchen, which boasts a wood-burning oven, double cooktops, double ranges, ample storage space, and a spacious island.

Additional rooms include a sanctuary-like primary suite, bunk room, temperature-controlled wine cellar, gym, game room, cinema, and staff office, plus a detached guest suite with its own living room. There’s also an apartment above the garage and a lush backyard with a plunge pool and al fresco seating. This wouldn’t be Paltrow’s house if there weren’t high-tech wellness amenities. The entire home has a sediment and carbon block filtration with Hydroblend antiscalant as well as an ultra-pure alkaline water system. Safe to say, you’re guaranteed the purest water in nearly all of Southern California.
