On Wednesday night in Miami, Galerie launched our Winter issue at El Espacio 23, the art space founded by Jorge M. Pérez, whose art-packed new home, designed by Will Meyer and Gray Davis of Meyer Davis, is featured in the issue. The party was hosted by Pérez (who is also CEO of Related Group) along with Galerie Founder & Editorial Director, Lisa Fayne Cohen, and Editor in Chief, Jacqueline Terrebonne.

Guests enjoyed a private tour with experts of the new exhibition, “Witness: Afro Perspectives from the Jorge M. Pérez Collection.” Curated by Zimbabwean guest curator Tandazani Dhlakama of Zeitz MOCAA, in collaboration with Pérez Collection curators Patricia M. Hanna and Anelys Alvarez, the collection is comprised of powerful pieces from influential African artists including Takadiwa Mottat, Cinga Samso, Ajarb Bernard Ategwa, Cassi Namoda, Penny Siopis, Athi Patra Ruga, and more. The space’s artist-in-residence, Masimba Hwati, also spoke to attendees about his work, which centers around the idea of cultural resistance.
