Eva Jospin Conceives a Magical Case for Dior’s Reintroduction of a Classic Fragrance

A limited edition haute couture trunk by the artist houses a new Miss Dior scent

The reimagining of an icon is a momentous task—and that’s certainly how Dior is approaching the debut of the new formulation of the legendary Miss Dior fragrance in March. Originally conceived in 1947, the scent has received a fresh makeover by Francis Kurkdjian, creative director of Dior Parfums, and is distinguished by notes of jasmine, fruit, and wood.

To mark the launch, French artist Eva Jospin, a 2023 Creative Mind known for her intricate architectural installations made of cardboard and dreamy embroidered tableaux, has collaborated with the maison on an extremely limited edition deluxe version.

Turning to the fragrance’s floral notes and poetic disposition, Jospin, who created elaborate scenography for Dior’s autumn/winter 2021–22 haute couture and spring/summer ’23 ready-to-wear shows, sketched a lush bucolic setting, which was then interpreted by the maison’s couturiers and embroidered on a miniature trunk and the bottle’s bow by the Chanakya Ateliers in India. “Eva Jospin’s garden transpires delicacy and femininity,” says Kurkdjian. “It mirrors my own olfactory interpretation of the monument that is Miss Dior.”

Jospin recognizes the magnitude of this moment as well. “It’s a very emblematic bottle and a very emblematic fragrance,” she says. “It’s really nice to be connected with the spirit of it.” The artist interprets another icon this June, when an exhibition of her large-scale panels depicting gardens opens in the Orangerie at Versailles.
