First Class: Emirates Unveils Luxurious Redesign of U.S. Open Suite
Guests can now enjoy the action from the ultimate seats while they experience the airline's top-notch offerings
On the heels of the design overhaul of their renowned aircraft interiors, Emirates decided to take their luxury experience courtside with the debut of their redesigned 1,358-sqare-foot suite at Arthur Ashe Stadium at the U.S. Open. Like their famous airplane cabins, the new suite boasts sumptuous leather seating paired with beautiful wood paneling and flecks of gold outlining the shape of the United Arab Emirates’s well-known ghaf trees. The tables follow a serpentine shape with orchids and moss planted in middle consoles that end with an art installation featuring the Dubai skyline, which becomes backlit at night allowing those around the court to see its glittering silhouette.
The opulent interior suite, which is one of the largest in Arthur Ashe, serves as the perfect backdrop for the airline to share their #Flybetter experience. Delicacies ranging from rare champagnes and caviar to the famous “The Fix” Dubai chocolate are offered in abundance along with a gourmet buffet that is typical of what is offered onboard in First Class. New for this year is the arrival of the tournament’s signature Honey Deuce cocktail, which guests are encouraged to enjoy in suite, and as an added bonus for those flying to New York, the signature cocktails can also be enjoyed on board for the duration of the U.S. Open tournament. Travelers can watch all of the matches in-flight on a special channel that Emirates added to their entertainment hub.
You may ask what does an airline and tennis have in common and how did this all start? To give a bit of background, Emirates has a long-standing relationship with the U.S. Open. When the luxury airline decided to sponsor the event in 2012, it was the first Grand Slam© tournament partnership for the brand, and since then, the sponsorship has grown to include all four Grand Slam© tournaments. This year is particularly memorable as Emirates recently announced the launch of their “Force for Good” initiative in partnership with the USTA as part of their contract renewal. Together, they hope to refurbish the courts of disadvantaged parks, schools and community centers across the 12 cities that Emirates services in the U.S., with the first three being unveiled in Brooklyn, New York. In addition to resurfacing, mending the fences, etc., the airline’s donations will fund tennis and educational programming for the local youth and their families served by the USTA foundation.
So, while taking in the tournament action over the next week, look for the outline of the Dubai skyline and you’ll find the Emirates suite. It sounds like it must be love to us!
