Designer Ghislaine Viñas Shares Her Valentine’s Day Gift List

Her love of rich colors and unbridled zest for personality-filled design influences a spirited assortment of touching sentiments

Crafting color-drenched residences from coast to coast, designer Ghislaine Viñas cultivates inspired rooms that layer candy-colored furnishings with pattern-forward textiles and cheeky collections of art. Her own upstate New York home is a masterclass in layering artisan details with Scandinavian reserve, and it’s a zest for artful living that she imparts on her clients, helping transform spaces with delightful, one-of-a-kind details.

Viñas also orchestrates a number of award-winning product collections, which means she knows a beautiful home item when she sees one. Here, the Netherlands-born, South Africa-raised creative shares the expressive accessories and accents on her Valentine’s Day list.

“I can’t remember when I got my first pair of Camper boots, but it certainly wasn’t my last. For the past 20 years they’ve been my go-to shoe; I was immediately drawn to their aesthetic, color, and the quality of the Spanish maker, and you’ll seldom see me without them.”

“Lladró is a classic, and this lamp brings me so much joy with its kitsch charm juxtaposed with the fresh coral hue. Animals always find their way into the homes I design, and these parrots are utterly unapologetic in their presence.”
