1. Designer Brigette Romanek Unveils Rug Collection with Loloi

The most recent iteration of the High Point Furniture Market gave design connoisseurs a first-look at a number of stellar collections by some of the biggest names in the industry. One such talent was Los Angeles designer Brigette Romanek, who presented her first-ever line of rugs with Loloi. The array’s four unique styles come in the calming, earthy palette that punctuates her interiors for a star-studded roster of residential and commercial clients. For Loloi, Romanek introduced the Dana, a sumptuous wool and cotton rug with fringed borders; Frida, a design of thick, nubby knots; Knox, a textural checkerboard pattern with delicate shading; and Orly, a plush stripe in painterly heathered tones. Rounding out the debut was a selection of graphic pillows in complementary hues of cream, deep brown, and moody blue.—Jill Sieracki

3. Le Monde Béryl Launches Collaboration with Bevilacqua in Venice

Art, craft, and fashion come together in Venice this week as Le Monde Béryl, the buzzy London-based footwear label, has teamed up with the Luigi Bevilacqua Company, the storied textile atelier, for a special collaboration during the Venice Biennale. Guests are invited to visit the extraordinary Bevilacqua atelier and marvel at the 18th-century looms. On display is a new collection, including designs in Bevilacqua’s leopard velvet. “We believe that fashion is art as it is one of the several ways to bring beauty into our daily lives,” says Bevilacqua CEO, Alberto Bevilacqua. “The launch of the new Le Monde Béryl collection with our iconic leopard velvet taking place during this creative and vivid environment—the Venice Biennale—is the perfect demonstration of the continuous dialogue between art, fashion and tradition.” —Lucy Rees

4. Design on a Dime Brings Out Industry’s Big Names for Housing Works Benefit

Everyone loves to discover a unique piece of furniture or creative objet d’art, even the most prominent names in the design industry, who turn out in droves for the annual Housing Works benefit, Design on a Dime, taking place April 25 through 27 at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York. Founding chair James Huniford, alongside Rayman Boozer, Jamie Drake, Elissa Grayer, Young Huh, David Kaihoi, Charlotte Moss, Joy Moyler, and Miles Redd, helps orchestrated this high-energy tag sale at which leading designers curated spirited vignettes of home goods. Then, when the velvet ropes drop, guests rush to claim unique pieces with all the proceeds going to Housing Works, which supports programs and advocacy to end HIV/AIDS and homelessness. This year 60 designers, including Brian J. McCarthy, Danielle Colding, Ghislaine Viñas, Jordan Hilton, Mark Cunningham, Robert Couturier, and S.R. Gambrel, will be participating. “With extraordinary generosity, commitment, and creativity, the design and home industries annually come together for Housing Works through Design on a Dime,” says Huniford. “Here, the only qualities on par with determined cause are incredible camaraderie and love for home.”—J.S.
