Art collector Jorge Pérez has listed his Aspen, Colorado, home for sale for $30 million. Known as the Five Trees estate, the 9,810-square-foot dwelling boasts six en-suite bedrooms, six full baths, and two half baths. Melanie Muss of Douglas Elliman has the listing.
Although Pérez is selling this property, he and his wife, Darlene, have no plans to leave the luxe ski town. They are both very much involved in the Aspen art scene, especially the Aspen Art Museum.
“We have been collecting [art] for 50 years and have built one of the most important contemporary art collections in the world,” Pérez, the founder, CEO, and chairman of The Related Group, tells Galerie. “The art in the house was picked from our collection, and it represents some of the pieces of art that we love the most.”

The Pérez family also owns an oceanfront apartment in Miami. “We incorporate great museum-quality art in both homes,” says Pérez. “The art is not specific to Miami or Aspen; they are pieces of contemporary art that stand alone. That is one thing that we love, that every room is filled with art from our collections.”

Located minutes from downtown Aspen, the Five Trees Estate sits on nearly an acre of property, with scenic mountain views, ski access, and numerous amenities. There are eight fireplaces, two bars, a temperature-controlled wine room and tasting area, two offices, multiple living areas, an elevator, a three-car garage, a steam room, a sauna, a movie theater, outdoor gardens, two walk-in closets, and more.

“We had no desire to sell until we saw a property where we could expand with our growing family of grandchildren,” explains Pérez. “The house is a perfect family home in which you feel like you are out in the country, and at the same time, you are a 15-minute bike ride to downtown Aspen, or a 45-minute walk. It is a very safe environment and is right at the base of Aspen Highlands, where you can ski right to or from the house.”

Additionally, the circa-2003 home’s outdoor entertaining spaces include waterfalls, built-in grills, a sizeable hot tub, and a built-in fireplace.
“This house is the most livable house I have ever been in. I think and hope that whoever buys it will enjoy it as much as we have,” says Pérez.
