A Greek Fashion Designer Lists Her Impressive Oceanfront Mykonos Villa for $28 Million
This 10-bedroom oceanfront home, called Villa Lithos, is one of the largest villas in the Greek islands and features serene contemporary interiors.
Sofia Bithara, co-founder of Greek women’s fashion chain BSB, recently listed her newly built Mykonos villa for $28 million (or €25 million). Called Villa Lithos, the villa is currently the largest home to be sold this year within the Greek islands.
The property is situated on a 1.3-acre parcel overlooking the sparkling Aegean Sea and Paraga Beach below. The contemporary home, spanning 14,445 square feet, was designed by renowned Greek architect Zege Architects with interiors by SMK Interiors and landscape architecture by Greenways. The design features traditional Cycladic architecture with white exteriors, flat roofs, natural stone elements, and native landscaping. The three-story home has 10 bedrooms and 12 bedrooms filtered throughout, as well as separate staff quarters. The home is being sold fully furnished.
“I have previously worked on three real estate projects in Athens, but I have been visiting Mykonos since I was a child and felt that this beautiful island was a natural choice for my next project,” Bithara said. “Villa Lithos is both contemporary and keeps with the traditional aesthetics of Mykonian design and is designed to make the very best of the stunning views from the terraces, principal rooms, and bedroom suites.”
Villa Lithos marks Bithara’s first residential project on the island and features soothing, neutral interiors. You enter the property via a lengthy winding driveway that leads to the entrance with water features, large boulders, and a skylight with exposed wood beams. Continuing inside is a large living room and 16-seat dining area lined with floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors that overlook the ocean. The entire home is oriented to take advantage of the south-facing ocean views that show the island of Antiparos in the horizon. At the touch of a button, the living room curtains can be closed and a large-format TV screen transforms the space into a movie theater.
Materials include sinai marble and oak veneer floors and natural wood accents seen throughout. Sumptuous textures, neutral hues, and ambient lighting help to create an almost spa-like space. There’s exquisite craftsmanship, as seen in the Gruppo Cucine-designed kitchen, with custom cabinetry and overhead skylights that flood the space with natural light. There are also state-of-the-art appliances from Wolf, Miele, and Sub-Zero. There’s also a second reception area with yet another living space, a 14-person dining table, and a built-in bar.
The ground level houses most of the bedrooms, as well as staff quarters and a state-of-the-art gym. Several bedrooms open to private covered terraces with loungers with fabulous ocean views. No expense was spared; there are furnishings from Interni, fixtures from Moda Bagno, and gym equipment from Technogym. The third level is located directly above the main living space and is dedicated to the lavish primary suite, which features a private terrace, separate seating area, and a luxe bathroom with a bathtub, dual vanities, and handcrafted oak veneer closets. The home has air conditioning and state-of-the-art technology that controls the lighting, climate, and mechanical systems. Other home features include a chef’s kitchen, service galley, and a dedicated staff room.
The home’s most striking area is easily the expansive outdoor terrace, which runs the entire length of the house. The exterior space includes many covered terraces, sun-drenched lounging areas, and a lengthy, ocean-facing infinity pool. The property features cobblestone paths and manicured native landscaping on every level.
