Kit Kemp Conjures a Dynamic Dining Room Around an Enchanting Painting by Ramiro Fernández Saus
The hotelier and designer blends wit and whimsy to create an artful dining area with striking furnishings and accessories
Design powerhouse Kit Kemp, the visionary behind Firmdale Hotels, has mastered the mix like no other. Prints and patterns, textures and colors all bow to her every whim and fantasy. Her latest property, Warren Street in New York’s Tribeca neighborhood, puts her love of artists and artisans on full display—combining pieces from around the globe as well as her own collections of textiles and tableware. “My style always has elements of the handcrafted but also something that is big and bold,” she says. Here, she conjures an enchanting dining room centered on a work by Spanish artist Ramiro Fernández Saus.
“This room is an antidote to city life—a place that lets you escape the busy streets and transports you somewhere else”
Kit Kemp
