Large-scale artworks by (from left) Sam Falls, Brenna Youngblood, and Jordan Wolfson preside over one end of Candace and Charles Nelson’s Beverly Hills living room, part of an extension that Standard Architecture | Design added on to the existing 1960s home. Designer Sara Story grouped custom settees, vintage Osvaldo Borsani chairs, and a sculptural Jacques Mizrahi floor lamp around a Rick Owens cocktail table. The tri-legged lamp and organic-form side table are vintage, and the rug is by Shiir.

Casual dining options in the kitchen include the island with woven-back counter stools and Marianne Brandt pendants above, as well as a marble-top breakfast table with a custom-made steel base surrounded by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec chairs for Mattiazzi. Paintings by Nicolas Party (at the base of the stairs) and Aaron Garber-Maikovska add chromatic splashes to the space, where expanses of glass allow Candace Nelson and her husband to keep an eye on their two young sons when they’re playing outside.

Standard designed the pool house and collaborated with landscape architect Shane Coen on the pool area, which Story furnished with a B&B Italia daybed and chaise longues.

A mohair-clad custom sectional sofa anchors a living room seating area that includes Art Deco lounge chairs by René Gabriel; behind the sofa, Lin Utzon ceramics top a Roman Thomas bench, while a Jake Longstreth painting and an Ed Ruscha text work are displayed on the far wall.

A Sterling Ruby artwork is mounted above a vintage credenza in the living room.

The entry features a Jonathan Browning Studios pendant, a painting by March Avery, and a custom-made steel cabinet that hosts an Ugo Rondinone sculpture; the divider separating the space from the dining room was crafted by Mark Hagen.

A work by Friedrich Kunath hangs in the entry.

Michael Anastassiades wall lights and a Gregory Nangle mirror are mounted above the Rosso Luana marble sink in a powder room lined with Porter Teleo wallpaper.

A vintage Paavo Tynell chandelier overlooks the primary bedroom, where panels of parchment sheathe the wall behind the custom-designed bed. A Jonathan Gardner painting hangs next to the sliding glass wall, which opens to a terrace furnished with Liaigre lounge chairs.
