Designer Waldo Fernandez Lists Serene Hamptons Retreat for $7 Million
Located just blocks from the beach, the six-bedroom compound features a lotus pond and black granite infinity pool
Set on a lush parcel with bamboo groves and a lotus pond, this Zen-inspired house reads more “Far East” than East End. But the 1.25-acre compound is indeed located mere blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, in coveted East Hampton Village in New York.
The owner of the 6,000-square-foot escape is Los Angeles–based designer Waldo Fernandez, known for conjuring glamorous but relaxed homes for A-list clients such as Elizabeth Taylor, Angelina Jolie, and Darren Star—whose own Hamptons hideaway was featured in Galerie.
Built in 2006, Fernandez’s six-bedroom retreat is organized around a tranquil lotus pond inspired by the designer’s travels in Thailand. The thoughtfully organized floor plan features generously proportioned rooms, including a chef’s kitchen equipped with a butler’s pantry and a spacious living area that opens onto a network of mahogany-lined verandas. A skybridge links the main house to two separate volumes, including one configured as a music room and another as a massage parlor.
Downstairs, the finished basement comprises a state-of-the-art fitness center and laundry room, and the shingle-clad home also comes with an attached two-car garage. Originally listed in 2014 for $9.5 million, the refuge didn’t find a buyer, but with summer just weeks away and the Hamptons real-estate market already in overdrive, it’s safe to say that won’t be the case this time around.
The home is listed with Jack Pearson and Cee Scott Brown of Compass. See more photos below.
