1. A Special Exhibition at Bergdorf Goodman Spotlights New York City’s Most Influential Women
A city known for fostering some of the most creative and forward thinking individuals in arts, food, fashion, and more, New York City is a place where breaking boundaries is celebrated. Now, a new exhibition by artist Jason Bard Yarmosky at storied shopping destination Bergdorf Goodman spotlights women who help shape this city. Featured on the facade of the department store, spanning five windows on Fifth Avenue, “Timeless Women in New York” displays five dreamy painted portraits of known figures including patron Carla Shen, fashion model Cate Underwood, fashion model JoAni Johnson, chef and activist Sophia Roe, and Bergdorf Goodman’s own Linda Fargo. Known for his ethereal paintings, Yarmosky’s portraits bring women into focus with a special emphasis on body movement and fashion, as each figure is presented in clothing by Bergdorf Goodman’s designers such as Marc Jacobs, Christopher John Rogers, Gurav Gupta, Schiaparelli, and Thom Browne. Locals and tourists alike can see the portraits up close through May 26. — Shelby Black

2. Illy Presents New Cappuccino and Espresso Cups Featuring Work by Artist Sol Calero
Since 1992, the Italian coffee company Illy has commissioned artists to decorate special editions of their espresso and cappuccino cups in an expression of creativity. Over the years, more than 100 painters, sculptors and other creatives have taken part. The latest is Sol Calero, a Berlin-based, Caracas- born artist, who creates work that explores themes of representation and identity, often through immersive environments. (She presented a dazzling site-specific installation “Pabellón Criollo” in the Giardini della Biennale last year.) The special project, launched during New York’s Frieze week, sees her signature vibrant color palette and floral motifs adorning Illy’s white porcelain cups. Past editions include Judy Chicago, whose work celebrates the multiple roles of women in history and culture, and Aycoobo, MAHKU, Paula Nicho and Rember Yahuarcani. —Lucy Rees

3. Book Jenni Kayne’s Dreamy Hudson Valley Farmhouse This Summer
When entrepreneur Jenni Kayne unveiled a branded farmhouse in Tivoli, New York, last year, the tastemaker brought a breezy dose of her lifestyle empire’s laid-back California cool to one of the country’s most desirable hospitality markets. After a year of hosting invite-only stays, the Jenni Kayne Farmhouse is now available for public booking through Airbnb for the first time, with reservations available through May. “The farmhouse was born from a desire to bring the Jenni Kayne lifestyle to life in a real, tangible way,” Kayne says of the destination, which features four serene bedrooms, three spa-like bathrooms, an open-concept chef’s kitchen, and a pool overlooking the Hudson Valley, as well as a sauna, cold plunge, and hot tub.
Interiors fittingly blend signature Jenni Kayne furniture with more than 70 vintage and antique pieces—some dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries—curated in collaboration with Galerie Provenance, as well as three original works by prolific artist Benjamin Abramowitz. Beyond the pool and garden, meanwhile, lies the property’s crown jewel: the Oak Wellness Club, a unique greenhouse with spa-like amenities stocked with non-toxic skincare, body care, bath products, and fine fragrances by her beauty brand Oak Essentials. The farmhouse, Kayne continues, “is a place where every detail, from the furniture and finishes to the way the light moves through the space, reflects our values of simplicity, beauty, and intentional living. I hope guests come here to unwind, reconnect, and leave feeling grounded and inspired.” —Ryan Waddoups

4. Designer Victoria-Maria Geyer Reimagines a Boutique Hotel Near Marbella, Spain, In a Warm, Summery Palette
Tucked between the popular summer getaway destination of Marbella, Spain, and the monumental coastal city of Gibraltar, Andalusia’s rolling hills and lush landscapes beckon with quiet reprieve. Now, a stunning new boutique hideaway has opened after a colorful refresh by designer Victoria-Maria Geyer, who transformed the Cortijo Genesis into a scenic retreat with room for just 12 guests. Incorporating only five bedrooms as well as a swimming pool and manicured gardens, the hotel combines a Mediterranean aesthetic with a heady dose of Palm Springs panache. Here, a terra-cotta courtyard is set with white wrought-iron seating with chili-pepper red cushions and petite tables boasting a kaleidoscopic top. The intimate arrangements surround a charming fountain embellished with tiles in an earthy mix of ochre, olive, and white. Bedrooms nod to a mix of semiprecious stones—aventurine green, citrine yellow, lapis lazuli blue, carnelian red, and morganite pink—juxtaposed against bright white walls and raw rood ceilings. An eclectic mix of accents, ranging from woven raffia busts by artist Natalia Brill to Marc Baumann tapestries as well as expressive encaustic tiles give each space an individual flavor. Public spaces kick the exuberant flair up a notch with hand-painted wooden ceilings in the reading room and a playful Gordon Hopkins canvas of lemons overlooking the living area punctuated with orange-and-white striped sofas that lead to an entertaining area dressed in saffron-yellow tile.—Jill Sieracki

6. Red-Hot Tania Bulhões Porcelain Pops Up at Plaza Athénée
Tania Bulhões has always been drawn to Plaza Athénée, describing the prestigious Parisian hotel as “a charming French palace that invites you to experience something truly magical.” To that end, the Brazilian entrepreneur recently brought an exclusive collection of porcelain homewares to the five-star destination to celebrate the Year of Brazil in France, which commemorates 200 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Inspired by the romantic story of the geraniums that French actor Jean Gabin gave to his beloved muse Marlene Dietrich and crafted at Royal Limoges in France, the porcelain pieces are imbued with red-hot passion. “I painted their reds, blacks, and glamorous golds in bold, contemporary brushstrokes,” she says. “This is my heartfelt tribute to a hotel that so perfectly embodies the spirit of France.” The collection will be available in flagship stores and on Tania Bulhões’ website in May. —R.W.
