Best known for her series of whimsical, feather-covered bears, Italian artist Paola Pivi seeks to reveal the power of imagination and freedom through her photographs and sculptures. Animals, often in bizarre or surreal settings, frequently figure into her work due to their associations with the human condition. She believes that every person holds a memory of a time when humans were closely connected with animals; as such, her viewers are represented within the animals.

Gabriel de la Mora is Mexico City-based conceptual painter who constructs minimal compositions from discarded or obsolete objects. He fragments and arranges objects — such as feathers, eggshells, shoe soles — into monochrome-looking surfaces of embedded information that belie great technical complexity.

Pieter Vermeersch, a Turin-based painter and sculptor, proposes series of marble canvases and some of the most ethereal gradient works. Vermeersch’s colour gradients are the result of a meticulous and almost mathematical process by which the artist becomes a kind of human printer–blending paint into a smooth and seamless surface he conceals any trace of the labor involved in the making of the painting.
