Designed by Martin Brudnizki, The Britely social club includes a tropical rooftop oasis with a more pastel palette of pinks and greens.

Brudnizki designed The Britely’s rooftop lounge to give guests a sense of place, maximizing the social club’s enviable location on Sunset Boulevard. “For me, this is L.A.,” he tells Galerie. “You see green space and you see sunlight.”

Custom designed seating channels the designer’s inspiration of Hollywood in the 1940s and ’50s.

“Here we wanted to do something more horizontal,” says Brudnizki of the geometric light fixture installed over the staircase that leads down into the Wolfgang Puck restaurant. The sculptural chandelier paired with the vibrant artwork is designed as a visual play on lines, form, and shape.

Brudnizki custom designed all of The Britely’s vintage-style lighting fixtures, bookending the marble-top bar with two cascading chandeliers.

The Britely demonstrates the designer’s strong ability to layer patterns; here, a vibrant flame-stitch textile from Osborne & Little and sofas upholstered in a playful animal print complement the bar’s sunburst floor design. “It’s all about scale,” says Brudnizki. “The second thing is to have something that’s geometric next to something that is more free flowing. Beyond that, it’s very important that the tone of the colors is the same—that’s how we make it work.”

The interior restaurant offers a stronger punch of color with high-gloss lacquer walls in a sumptuous shade of pink. “We picked the pink walls because the reflection of that color will make everyone look twenty years younger,” says the designer.

Reflective details on the gilded ceiling add to the room’s cinematic quality where a second cool blue and brass bar offers a glamorous place for guests to gather.

A bowling alley is adjacent to The Britely’s bar and dining area.
