A rare architectural gem in Los Angeles has hit the market for the first time in nearly four decades, with an asking price of $3.38 million. The home, offering views of Silver Lake and the iconic Hollywood sign, was once the personal residence of architect Richard Holme, a protégé of Southern California modernist Richard Neutra. Another residence with ties to Neutra was put on the market by Hollywood producer Ryan Murphy earlier this year with an asking price of $33.9 million.

The cedar-clad exterior of the Moreno Highlands house has been largely left true to Holme’s design, which includes full walls of glass, while the interior has undergone tasteful updates that keep true to the overall aesthetic.

The multilevel dwelling’s contemporary remodel was orchestrated by Brian Bell and includes a sleek, updated kitchen outfitted with quartz, Calacutta marble, and granite complemented by designer fixtures. Foodies will delight in the combination of Thermador, KitchenAid, and Miele appliances that put the finishing touches on a kitchen that features a built-in breakfast nook and walk in pantry.

The three-bedroom, three-bath home spans 2,300 square feet, is outfitted with wide-plank white oak hardwood floors, and features a large loft space waiting to be transformed into a welcoming den or studious library. Additionally, the estate features unobstructed city and ocean views from every room, deck, and loft, while custom redwood fencing and planters offer an extra level of privacy.

The 5,400-square-foot parcel, meanwhile, features terraced gardens enhanced with native flora, fruit trees, and tropical specimen plantings that create a heavenly oasis. The property also boasts a two-story garage offering ample storage space.
