“It’s a dog’s life” has stood for centuries as an expression of strife—but in today’s era of pampered pooches, the idiom is due to be revisited. Luxury brands most known for creating haute couture and refined furnishings are also crafting accessories and upscale furniture made exclusively for four-legged friends. There are spas that cater to pets and its not unheard of for five-star hotels to offer upscale amenities for furry friends.

But perhaps the most posh puppies of them all are those participating in the annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, this year taking place May 11 through 14 at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. During the multi-day event, terriers, toys, sporting, working, and other breeds parade around the ring to hopefully take home the coveted Best in Show prize.

While not every canine has what it takes to wear the massive purple and gold ribbon, there are leagues of pet parents who consider their pup a “top dog”—particularly within the design industry. Ken Fulk’s “polar bears” appear on the designer’s Instagram feed almost as much as his stunning interiors; Madcap Cottage founders Jason Oliver Nixon and John Loecke filled their North Carolina headquarters with a delightful mix of color, pattern, and pugs; while Brian J. McCarthy, Bunny Williams, Robert Couturier, Mary McDonald, and Christopher Spitzmiller all have lucky dogs living a glamorous high-design life.

Here, Galerie offers a selection of sartorial goods perfect for celebrating the most fabulous of furry friends.
