Plaid is back, and not just on the runways

After the Fall/Winter 2025 Runway shows, one thing was clear: plaid is back. This Celtic-inspired pattern that was used to denote Scottish clans has most commonly been associated with ‘90s grunge in the fashion world. This year, however, many are giving it a more classic look by wearing the motif as a chic dress or skirt courtesy of designers like Prada and Proenza Schouler. Some street style influencers are choosing to stay with the iconic flannel shirt, but instead of tying it around their waist, they are upping the look by layering it with a blazer or tucking it into wide-legged jeans.

As always, whatever comes through on the runway naturally follows into the home, especially since the checkered motif is already often found in fabrics and wallcoverings.
