See Miami’s Most Spectacular Street Art

During Art Basel and Art Miami, some of the world greatest street artists color the city's walls

The parties are jammed, the dinners overpriced, and the limo gridlock ludicrous, but a hands-down, must-see highlight of Art Basel and Miami Art week is always the outdoor street art spectacular known as Wynwood Walls. Conceived in 2009 by the late urban visionary Tony Goldman, it’s now curated by his dynamic daughter, Goldman Properties CEO Jessica Goldman Srebnick. She has not only chosen the theme fearless for 2016’s 12-wall project, which opened November 29, but she’s taking a challenge on herself. Srebnick and partner, artist Peter Tunney’s company, Goldman Global Arts Initiative, will stage an onsite gallery show of paintings and sculptures by some of Wynwood Walls’ art stars, such as pioneer graffiti-art star Crash, which debuted December 1. “What an unexpected rush,” says Srebnick, of their projects, “to be able to feature art that is colorful and hopeful where it can be seen and talked about by millions. What street art has proven is that a canvas isn’t limited to a square frame. It’s wherever you want to create something wonderful.”
