10 of the Best Jewelry Moments from the 2025 Oscars

Diamond drop necklaces and archival pieces ruled this year’s red carpet

There were voluminous ballgowns. Sheaths glittered with paillettes, crystal beads, and mirrored facets. The influence of 1950s haute couture surfaced in lustrous structured satin or billowing lace. And the evening’s flourishes came in the form of bows, trains and opera-length gloves.

All of these looks required jewels of the highest order, whether to amplify a vintage theme, contrast romantic frills, bubble hems and flounces with something geometric and architectural, or punch up a jacket lapel. And for the most part that meant very big diamonds (with the occasional sapphire or emerald, and at least one dainty pink tourmaline).

Below, Galerie highlights the best jewelry moments of the night.

1. Zoe Saldaña Dazzles in Cartier

The Best Supporting Actress winner for her role in Emilia Pérez paired her maroon Saint Laurent gown with the Cartier Panthere Versatiles High Jewelry necklace in 18k white gold with emeralds, onyx, and diamonds. The torque design reimagines the iconic Cartier motif as something fiercely modern; Saldaña wore the piece looped around her neck but was also enchanted by its hidden feature: the ability to transform into a bracelet and shoulder piece.

2. Cynthia Erivo Opens Show Wearing Marli New York

After walking the red carpet in Roberto Coin, the award-winning actress and Oscar-nominated star of Wicked took the stage to perform highlights from the musical wearing an extravagant suite from the high jewelry Moonlight collection by Marli New York. The bold, art deco-inspired jewelry contrasted her vintage Vivienne Westwood ballgown’s dramatic flounces and florals with its sharp angles, glinting surfaces, and geometric shapes, all lavished in diamonds.

3. Mikey Madison Shines in the Spotlight in Tiffany

The Best Actress winner played the starring role in Anora, a film that also garnered multiple Oscars including Best Picture, and enjoyed her moment in the spotlight wearing a diamond drop necklace from the Tiffany & Co. archives dating from 1909-1919. A diamond bracelet, diamond earrings and pear-shape ring in platinum added extra sparkle, while a pink tourmaline and diamond ring perfectly tied in her pink and black Bal à Paris gown, a recreation of a Dior design from 1956.

4. Michelle Yeoh Glitters in Boucheron

The diamond necklace worn by the Wicked actress was pretty enough from the front but revealed an outstanding jewelry moment once she turned to the side: Boucheron’s Quatre Radiant Edition high jewelry tie necklace, encrusted with princess-cut, baguette cut and round diamonds, streamed down her back, a dramatic statement that stood out against the (cornflower blue) blank canvas of her Balenciaga gown. The Plume de Paon asymmetrical white gold and diamond earrings provided the finishing touch.

5. Isabella Rossellini Is Sentimental in Bulgari

The Best Supporting Actress nominee for her role in Conclave paid tribute to the late director David Lynch in a Dolce & Gabbana dress of blue velvet paired with a Bulgari high jewelry necklace centering 18.47-ct. blue sapphire. Rossellini also wore a pair of vintage Bulgari earrings owned by her mother, Ingrid Bergman, who wore the same pair when she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for Murder on the Orient Express in 1975. A high jewelry diamond brooch and ring completed this thoughtfully considered Oscars look.

6. Elle Fanning Is Brilliant in Cartier

The A Complete Unknown actress and presenter wore a necklace from the French jeweler’s archives. Made in 1958, it came “straight from the vault,” Fanning stated in a red carpet interview—and fit her neck perfectly. Like a diamond-encrusted lace collar with scalloped edges, the romantic piece was just right for her gown, a creation by Sarah Burton for Givenchy made in white French Lyon lace and silk tulle, belted with a black grosgrain bow, and finished with a Watteau train. A diamond watch and the Broderie diamond band, also by Cartier, added just the right amount of extra glamour.

7. Paul Tazewell Sports Timeless Elegance in Fred Leighton

Like most recent carpets, there were “man brooches” galore, from Jeff Goldblum’s cascading boutonniere to Adrien Brody’s “winged victory” by Elsa Gin to Robert Downey Jr.’s ruby-studded berries (vintage Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co.). But leave it to a costume designer to give the trend a unique spin: Paul Tazewell, who won the Oscar for Best Costume Design for his work in Wicked, styled his own look with inspiration from “the Black dandies of yesteryear” according to his Instagram post. That meant a classic tuxedo fastened at the neck with a truly magnificent Belperron brooch from the 1950s made with over 45 carats of round and baguette diamonds from Fred Leighton. He also added emerald and diamond cufflinks from the Madison Ave. jeweler and Kwiat’s Ashoka diamond ring.

8. Doja Cat Goes for Gold in Messika

The singer had a delightfully meta moment when she took the stage to perform “Diamonds Are Forever” wearing…well, lots of diamonds…as part of the evening’s James Bond tribute. But when she walked the red carpet wearing an animal print gown by Balmain and Messika’s Solar Diva necklace, featuring a 34-carat yellow cushion-cut diamond and Pear Appeal earrings with white and yellow diamonds it was a gold-star moment in every way.

9. Bruna Marquezine Stuns in Lorraine Schwartz

Her name may not be familiar to American audiences but this Brazilian model, actress and filmmaker was memorably gorgeous in a custom Versace gown with a plunging neckline that perfectly suited her jewelry: A long Y necklace featuring 150 carats’ worth of diamonds—including a beguiling trail of pear shape drops that totaled 60 carats—created by red carpet favorite Lorraine Schwartz that was one of the night’s best looks.

10. Gal Godot Is Regal in Tiffany

A longtime Tiffany loyalist, the actress and presenter was regal in red Prada and an Angela Cummings for Tiffany & Co. necklace in gleaming yellow gold and platinum with diamonds from 1980. The celebrated designer and goldsmith joined the American jeweler’s stable of talents in 1967 and soon began creating collections under her own name. With its artfully overlapping petals, Godot’s necklace is a fine example of the unique textures and sculptural interpretations of the forms and patterns found in nature that distinguish Cummings’s work.
