10 “Superfine” Jewelry Moments from the 2025 Met Gala

Stars such as Zendaya, Miley Cyrus, and Colman Domingo lit up the evening with unforgettable pieces by Bulgari, Tiffany & Co., Cartier and more

The celebrities and fashionable elites who attended the 2025 Met Gala embraced the theme of the event“Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”—with gusto, glamour and wonderful displays of dramatic license. A celebration of Black history, culture, and style, its “Tailored for You” dress code was inspired by the museum’s Costume Institute’s accompanying exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” an exploration of what is being called Black dandyism.

What did that look like? Pinstripes, fur and feathers. Sweeping capes and endless trains. Bespoke details executed with the highest level of skill and precision. There were also plenty of jaunty hats and neatly knotted ties; some stars even carried walking sticks.

Many best-dresseds took the dandyism directive to elaborate heights of individualism—and grandeur. And by grandeur, we’re of course talking about the jewelry—joyfully draped diamonds, rubies, and at least one brick-sized emerald featured prominently in most extravagant pieces on parade. No, there was no holding back when it came to enhancing the story of a look with some sparkle from Bulgari, Tiffany & Co., Cartier, and more.

As Met Gala cochair, the actor Colman Domingo—a well-documented jewelry aficionado—did not hold back when it came to the adornments for his custom Valentino cape. Most notably, he wore the French maison’s Iceberg necklace hung with pendulous rock crystal and diamond drops and the Serpent Boheme Solarité asymmetrical diamond stud earrings, one of which spiraled up and around the back of his ear, fanned out like plumage. An array of gem-set rings and bands provided the finishing touch.

The multi-hyphenate talent—a Bulgari ambassador—wore a history-making jewel with her Balmain Couture gown: an astounding necklace centering a 241.06-carat emerald, the largest faceted stone the house has ever mounted in a design. Adding even more fanfare to this distinguished “blue” carpet moment is the fact that the dramatic piece offers a first look at Bulgari’s newest High Jewelry collection, which won’t be unveiled officially until the end of the month.

3. Miley Cyrus in Cartier

Among the few stars who readily specified her fashion and jewelry credits on the carpet, the Grammy award-winning singer was wearing, in her own words, “custom Alaïa enhanced by Cartier.” Her cropped crocodile leather jacket had a high neck, a detail that called for thoughtful jewelry choices: A triple-row necklace in 18k white and yellow gold worn over the garment added a regal touch and she offset the statement piece with simple Cartier Love earrings and a Panthére ring in gold, onyx and tsavorite.

Many celebrity couples used the Met Gala as an opportunity for epic date nights; among the evening’s sweethearts were actress Gabrielle Union and husband, the former NBA player Dwayne Wade. Both wore Prada and Tiffany & Co. jewels. Union’s necklace stood out from the rest of the edit: Fit for a night of romance, her platinum and yellow gold drop necklace, a design from the 2024 Tiffany Blue Book collection, was set with vibrant red spinels nested among a multitude of glittering, bright white diamonds.

5. Zendaya in Bulgari

Channeling Bianca Jagger’s iconic wedding day look from the 1970s, the Euphoria star stepped out in a custom Pharrell Williams for Louis Vuitton white suit, complete with a wide-brimmed hat placed just so. Fiercely elegant and flawlessly tailored, the garment called for just a few carefully-chosen pieces from Bulgari: yellow diamond stud earrings and, pinned to the back of her jacket, a white gold and diamond snake brooch. The look also afforded a glimpse of her engagement ring from actor Tom Holland (said to be the work of designer Jessica McCormack).

Pearls! The actress’s unique jewelry moment on the carpet comes from Buccellati and its Rete con Perle necklace set in 18k yellow gold. The creamy, luminous elegance of pearls beautifully complemented her custom butter-yellow suit by Zac Posen, executive vice president and creative director of Gap (the garment was designed in the Gap Studio in New York). Harrier’s look also featured Buccellati’s Macri Color spessartite and diamond earrings and, for a superfine and dandy twist, cufflinks in 18k gold.

One of the evening’s first, and most memorable, appearances, the singer/actress arrived at the festivities wearing a pearl- and Swarovski crystal-embroidered  “India-meets-Zoot Suit moment, reinterpreting Black Dandyism through our lens of maximalism, craft, and storytelling,” according to Mumbai-based couturier Manish Malhotra. He also designed Jones’s statement necklace set with vivid tanzanites and brilliant-cut diamonds with a commanding 20-carat tanzanite centerpiece that reimagines the classic lavaliere style as something unapologetically contemporary.

8. Isha Ambani Piramal

The Indian heiress, daughter of billionaire Mukesh Ambani—and “star” of her headline-making wedding last year—has become a boldface name in the fashion world; her glittering couture ensemble is the work of Indian designer Anamika Khanna. No stranger to heaping on pieces with mega gems, her Met Gala necklace was inspired by the Cartier Toussaint, a piece originally designed in 1931 for the Maharaja of Nawanagar to showcase the 136-carat Queen of Holland diamond. A replica of the necklace had a moment in  the 2018 movie Ocean’s 8 (worn by Anne Hathaway’s character), but Ambani’s version features genuine diamonds weighing a total of 481.42 carats. This detail only adds to the jewel’s unbelievably magnificent effect (and by the way: it’s part of Ambani’s personal collection!).

No awards show is complete without a strong presence from red-carpet favorite jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz and this year’s Met Gala was no exception. The event is often a platform for innovative jewelry styling and that’s where rapper Megan Thee Stallion comes in: Wearing a formfitting dress by Michael Kors and a sweeping white fur coat, her jewels included a trail of diamond hair brooches that inched up and over her dramatic bouffant ponytail. Not to me outdone, a pair of 35-carat diamond studs, a ring, and a bracelet, also by Schwartz, provided just the right amount of shimmer and shine.

10. Sarah Snook in Rahaminov & Saidian Vintage Jewels

The Succession actress and star of Picture of Dorian Gray on Broadway, tends to be one of the quieter presences on the red carpet, but her Met Gala look was noteworthy—and flawless. Her tailored satin tuxedo jacket was the perfect “blank canvas” for showcasing a bouquet of diamond-and-gemstone brooches. Most came from Saidian Vintage Jewels but Rahaminov’s diamond and pink tourmaline brooch, pinned to Snooks’ bowtie, commanded the top spot (literally).
