Hotel of the Week: Amangiri Adds a Breathtaking New Villa
The treasured Utah hideaway introduces its first six-bedroom private residence that seamlessly blends into the otherworldly landscape
With its quietly reserved suites and tented pavilions that seamlessly meld with the surrounding 900 acres of desert landscape, Utah resort Amangiri has earned a sort of reverence among luxury-minded adventurers who seek out its solitude and serenity. Now, those making the trek with a small group of like-minded travelers can secure a world to themselves with the debut of a new six-bedroom villa. Designed by Marwan Al-Sayed of Masastudio, the main property’s original architect, the distinct accommodation set on nine acres is the first of 12 planned villas.
Guests checking into the 12,000-square-foot residence are greeted with sweeping vistas toward the picturesque Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument. Volumes constructed of blonde walnut, stained cypress, and sand-toned concrete further add to the sense of artful immersion into the sculpted, rugged terrain. Loggia pavilions offer numerous zones for respite, guiding visitors towards a dining court, covered lounge, and 118-foot swimming pool—all with jaw-dropping views.
Within the minimalist rooms, thoughtfully considered design echoes the earthy neutrals of the desert. A dramatic oculus floods the main living and dining area with the region’s breathtaking natural light. However, decadent amenities, like the dedicated spa with steam room, sauna, and private fitness studio provide an exquisite counterpoint to the hard-edges of the environment.
Those looking to further balance a hard day in nature, partaking in some of the resort’s organized outdoor activities, like canyon hikes and horseback riding, will enjoy the villa’s other exquisite benefits, including an on-call personal chef and villa host, as well as dedicated movement practices and spa treatments. Plus, Amangiri’s famed 24,756-square-foot Aman Spa and dining venue serving reimagined American Southwest cuisine are just a short electric buggy ride away.
