In honor of the new book, the intimate dinner and cocktail party featured a holiday atmosphere inspired by island life

Holiday gatherings generally conjure images of fluffy white snow, roaring fires, and yards of green garland. But a recent cocktail party and intimate dinner hosted by Galerie magazine founder and editorial director Lisa Fayne Cohen and editor in chief Jacqueline Terrebonne in Palm Beach, Florida, proves a fabulously festive atmosphere can also be inspired by tropical destinations. Held in celebration of the recently released book Ralph Lauren: A Way of Living, the evening’s decor nodded to Mr. Lauren’s own home in Jamaica, which is featured in the tome and serves as a favorite winter retreat for his family.

Guests at the Worth Avenue store were greeted by a towering arrangement of ginger surrounded by lush palms and monstera, along with copies of the book and flickering white candles in hurricane vases. Crystal coupes of Champagne and signature margaritas served in Old Fashioned glasses accented with polo mallet stirrers circulated on silver trays throughout the boutique’s first floor and rear courtyard, which proved a welcoming setting with linen throw pillows emblazoned with the RL monogram.

The intimate dinner at the Cohens’ Palm Beach property featured a tasteful tabletop setting featuring the Somerville gold charger, Wilshire dinner plate in gold, Peyton salad plate in navy/gold, Coraline crystal wine glasses, Wentworth flatware in silver, Coraline extra large vase, classic hurricanes in brass (on table), Kenmore linen dinner napkins, Gaston stripe fabric in resort navy (tablecloth), and Modern Hurricanes in brass (decorative). The merry spirit continued at the oceanfront estate of Lisa and James Cohen. The historic residence—built in 1929 by renowned financier, philanthropist, and arts patron Otto Hermann Kahn and designed by legendary architect Maurice Fatio—offered a perfect setting for al fresco dining in signature Ralph Lauren style. Barrel-backed wicker chairs surrounded a table covered in a wide-striped tablecloth ran the length of the generously deep-set loggia on the home’s central courtyard. Cascading white orchids housed in crystal vases, touches of gold decorative accessories and classic navy-and-white entertaining moments from the Ralph Lauren Home collection brought the pages of the book to life, capturing the very essence of resort chic.

Ralph Lauren Home Celebrates 40 Years with a Comprehensive New Tome

Conversation flowed and moved from topics that included holiday travel plans and the importance of historic preservation in Palm Beach—but talk always seemed to swirl back to the book Ralph Lauren: A Way of Living (Rizzoli) and the profound impact his style has had on interiors since Ralph Lauren Home was launched 40 years ago. But perhaps Lisa summed it up best when she remarked, “I feel transformed when I enter a space that Ralph Lauren is behind.”
