After 20 years searching Montana for his ideal ranch, owner Jim Manley discovered a 6,600-acre estate near the tiny mining town of Philipsburg in 2007. Now the all-inclusive Ranch at Rock Creek embraces its cattle- ranching roots through a modernized 19th-century barn, which houses a trio of rustic rooms, and an extensive menu of Western activities like roping lessons, clay shooting, and sapphire mining. The two new cabins, Red Tail and Golden Eagle, located on a remote stretch of the property, evoke a more upscale, Victorian vibe than the other eclectically decorated accommodations, with crystal chandeliers suspended over elegant claw- foot tubs.

With the recent addition of Michelin-starred executive chef Zachary Ladwig, the property is serving up elevated ranch-to-table fare, including a Montana dashi with smoked dried elk and foraged mushrooms as well as heritage chicken roasted on organic hay and herbs.
