Arte Unveils High-Design Flagship in New York

Galerie welcomed a group of design industry leaders to toast the debut of the longstanding wall covering brand's new space in the city's Decoration & Design Building

While leading interior designers eagerly sought out a preview of the newest collections from Arte at their Paris showroom during Deco Off, or popped by the flagships in London and Singapore, their presence in New York had been previously underwhelming. That all changed this spring when the family-run wall covering brand introduced a spectacular space inside the city’s Decoration & Design Building at 979 Third Avenue. Nestled into a light-filled space on the tower’s ninth floor, the atelier, crafted by Sara Mosele, is an inspiring destination for taking in a wider breadth of the company’s assortment of hand-made, printed non-woven, vinyl, three-dimensional wall coverings, murals, and panoramics.

Present at the grand opening were leaders from Arte’s team from Belgium including Managing Director Philippe Desart, as well as Bill Calhoun, President of Arte USA and Northeast Territory Manager, Adriana DeMartino.

Viewing a selection of Arte wall coverings—like Mandrava, a richly embroidered floral pattern on textile; Alba, a turquoise weave made using irregular strips of mulberry bark; Luster, a shimmering multidimensional style crafted with capiz; and Alata, a bold geometric pattern of woven sisal—were a number of celebrated New York talents, like Wesley Moon, Josh Greene, Rayman Boozer, and Ries Hayes principal David Ries.

Galerie Executive Managing Editor Jill Sieracki kicked off the event with a champagne toast welcoming visitors to Arte’s fourth branded showroom worldwide, and a nod to the company’s presence in the U.S. for more than 40 years. Visitors then enjoyed light bites and refreshments representative of each of the brand’s other global locales.
