Amanda Lindroth Finds an Inspiring Rapport with a Work by Rachel Lee Hovnanian

It’s impossible not to have a good time in a space designed by Amanda Lindroth. Her interiors exude hospitality and personality— with plenty of whimsy and fun thrown in. “There’s always an idea of relaxation but also a generosity of spirit,” says the designer, who has offices in Palm Beach, Florida; Charleston, South Carolina; and the Bahamas, as well as a recent monograph titled Island Dreaming (Vendome Press).
For a covered outdoor entertaining area, she took her cues from a canvas by Rachel Lee Hovnanian that evokes the Palm Beach scene immortalized by lensman Slim Aarons during the 1950s and ’60s. “I love the palette, the sense of irony,” she says
of the painting. “It reminds me of my childhood growing up in the area and strikes a personal chord.”
