Hotel of the Week: Barrière Group Introduces a Picturesque Retreat in Greece, Adding to Its Portfolio of Stunning Resort Hotels
Joining a collection with properties in Courchevel, Saint-Barth, and Cannes, Fouquet’s Mykonos offers a lively mix of sumptuous dining, a restorative spa, and dramatic suites ideal for taking in the island’s unforgettable sunsets
Having already established itself with hotels in some of the world’s most beguiling destinations, French-owned Barrière Group made its first foray into Greece with the opening of Fouquet’s Mykonos, a Cycladic oasis overlooking the crystal-clear waters of Paraga Beach on the island’s southern coast.
Encompassing 60 suites and three private villas, the property revels in the traditional look of clean white buildings enlivened by organic colors and natural textures. Athens-based studio Kydoniatis Architects shaped the rectilinear volumes that frame the minimalist interiors curated by Divercity Architects and Variation Studios. Each accommodation captures the spirit of residential-style living with tranquil bedrooms and serene seating areas leading to terraces that offer breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea.
The property’s most exceptional stays, however take place in the private villas, which combine unparalleled interiors with jaw-dropping settings. The most intimate, the two-bedroom Cyclades villa, is set at the resort’s furthest point, giving guests total privacy as well as uninterrupted views over turquoise blue water. Painterly sunsets are best enjoyed from the grand seven-bedroom Paradiso villa, a 12,000-square-foot hideaway complete with a private massage room, outdoor kitchen on the terrace, and jacuzzi in the main suite.
The resort cultivates an energetic spirit for diners at all-day restaurant Éole, where mornings start with a healthy dish of Greek yogurt, tahini, figs, and sesame or a decadent pistachio pancake. Mezze plates, salads, and crudos make Étole a popular spot for lunch and dinner, where Mediterranean gastronomy takes the more intimate dining room to refreshing new heights. Meals can also be enjoyed at Roka, an oceanfront beach club serving Japanese cuisine throughout the day.
Those looking for a more low-key ambience can retreat into the Rock Spa, a tranquil hideaway with cutting-edge treatments infused with local ingredients and a stunning indoor pool carved directly into the rock. Facials utilizing products by Dr. Barbara Sturm and massages featuring the elixirs of Germaine de Capuccini further elevate this restorative oasis.
“The opening of Fouquet’s Mykonos marks an important milestone in our international expansion,” says Grégory Rabuel, CEO of the Barrière Group. “By establishing our first presence in Greece, we are pursuing our ambition to accompany our guests to the destinations they travel to, with venues that combine excellence, identity, and emotion. Mykonos was an obvious choice, thanks to its ability to bring together natural beauty, cultural influence, and international appeal.”
While the property has wound down after its inaugural season, it plans to reopen at the end of April, 2027.
