This New Rolex Oyster Perpetual Mirrors a Kaleidoscopic Alighiero Boetti Artwork
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual, which celebrates its centennial this year, gets an eye-catching reinvention of the Jubilee motif, with the letters of the brand’s name repeated in a vibrant pattern on the dial. This multidimensional graphic, rendered by a complex lacquer technique and available in the 36mm case, reverberates against a bracelet of Oyster steel alloy.
Alighiero Boetti explored time, language, and geography as well as ideas around order versus disorder in his conceptual artworks that feature maps, symbols, and letters, such as Untitled from 1987, which arranges embroidered blocks of typography in kaleidoscopic formation.
