The Gilded Age Cast Celebrates Historic Knicks Comeback Win in Full Costume
Show star Cynthia Nixon shared a moving video featuring her castmates on social media, where it quickly went viral
Talk about a Hollywood ending. The cast of HBO’s hit series The Gilded Age went viral Wednesday night after a video of them dressed in full costume watching the New York Knicks heroically beat the San Antonio Spurs was posted to social media.
“Knicks fever is running high on the Gilded Age set, and tonight was a particularly sweet victory!!!” show star Cynthia Nixon wrote, alongside the video. The cast was gathered for filming in upstate New York at the fictional “Brook” house, according to the video, with Christine Baranski, Denée Benton, and Louisa Jacobson among those anxiously peering at an iPad during the final moments of the game. At one point, Baranski, dressed in full Agnes van Rhijn attire, yelled: “Shoot!”
Moments later, when OG Anunoby tipped in Jalen Brunson’s missed 3-pointer to put the Knicks ahead 107-106 with 1.2 seconds remaining, the cast erupted in cheers as the camera panned to capture it all. Fans of both the Knicks and the show quickly jumped into the comments to commend the moment, and of course, speculate on potential spoilers from the behind-the-scenes look.
“The Knickerbockers have succeeded rather splendidly,” one fan mused, while another wrote “Amazing!!! Also—are they filming Peggy’s wedding!?”
The cast is currently filming its fourth season, but HBO has not announced an expected release date. Meanwhile, the Knicks, now up 3–1 in the NBA Finals after overcoming a record-breaking 29-point deficit in Game 4, will seek to win the championship on Saturday in Game 5 against the Spurs in San Antonio.
