Hotel of the Week: Kimpton EPIC Miami Sponsors Dynamic, Locally Driven Artists in Residence Program
In addition to earning high marks for sumptuous experiences, the downtown Miami branch of Kimpton Hotels anchors itself in the community by with EPIC Art, its Artists in Residence program
Kimpton EPIC Hotel Miami already had everything that a discerning, urbane traveler could ask for when it launched its Artists-in-Residence program in November of 2021: luxuriously understated suites, widely praised dining options, a rooftop pool, and striking views in all directions. But EPIC Art added an extra bit of authentic flair that really makes the property stand out by promoting and uplifting South Florida artists while offering guests an inside entrée to Miami’s vital cultural scene.
EPIC Art selects six local artists per year. The current Artist in Residence is D’Ana Nuñez, also known as COVL, in a sports-focused Women’s History Month collaboration. COVL is a Puerto Rican multidisciplinary talent whose work speaks directly from her cultural roots. COVL has collaborated with brands including Adobe, Nike, Netflix, Ulta Beauty, and the NBA. Her featured work at Kimpton salutes the intersection of women, athletics, and culture while celebrating major moments like Formula 1 and FIFA.
Artwork is exhibited on the 16th floor of the hotel in the spacious pool deck foyer, and 100 percent of the sales go to the artist. A peek at what 2026 has in store: continuing the momentum from COVL’s look at Miami’s increasing global sports dominance, the June–July schedule stars Facundo Yebne, and aligns with Pride as well as FIFA festivities.
Artists to previously participate Kimpton EPIC Hotel Miami’s Artist in Residence program include Sam Kirk (whose mixed media creations have also been shown at the National Museum of Mexican Art), Marcelo Holzinger (one of several EPIC Artists to have participated in Miami Art Week), Dominik Ambroise, Marcus Blake, Ka$per, and Nate Dee. Jasmeet Sidhu’s photographs of Taylor Swift in honor of the Miami stop on her Eras tour were a particular highlight that drew love from Swifties and press alike.
The selection process is thoughtfully tailored for community relevance. In the words of spokesperson Kristen Abbott, “We actively research and engage with Miami-based artists whose work reflects both the local creative pulse and broader global conversations. Through this process, we intentionally connect our artist selections to cultural moments; elevating Black, Hispanic, LGBTQ+, and women creators during key heritage and awareness months to ensure our programming reflects the rich diversity of our community. By prioritizing local talent, we’re able to give back to the community while curating experiences that feel authentic and meaningful for travelers from around the world.”
