Japan Society Presents Naoko Tosa’s Four Seasons Fashion Show
The artist uses digital textile printing technology to turn her new media work into wearable art
On Monday evening, Japan Society will welcome guests to take in Naoko Tosa’s Sound of Ikebana/Four Seasons fashion show. The event, timed with New York Fashion Week, will feature four segments representative of Japan’s traditional seasons, Tosa’s art, and how it merges with Western interpretations.
Tosa, who uses digital textile printing technology to turn her new media art into fashion, has broken the seasons into Spring: The Brilliance of Life, Summer: Prayers to Ancestors, Autumn: Celebration of Harvest, and Winter: Memories of Battle.
It won’t be the first time Tosa has dazzled the New York Fashion Week crowd with her mesmerizing creations. “Clothes are a familiar part of our everyday lives, and they provide energy to people,” the artist previously said, following her 2024 appearance. “My hope is to convey lively energy through artistic clothing.”
