The Beaumont Mayfair Puts British Dining Back Into the Spotlight
At Rosi, chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen serves up warmth and wit through British classics enlivened by pastel tones, Art Deco details, and exuberant murals by Luke Edward Hall
After beginning her career in Lancashire and becoming head chef of Northcote at 23 years old, Lisa Goodwin-Allen has earned recognition for her fresh approach to classic British cooking. Following more than two decades at the helm of the Michelin-starred manor house, she recently joined London’s dynamic dining scene as Culinary Director of The Beaumont Mayfair. Her latest venture, Rosi, recasts classic British dining with theatrical panache.
Goodwin-Allen joined the Beaumont in April, a decisive moment in the storied Art Deco hotel’s ongoing evolution under CEO Stuart Procter. “Rosi represents everything we love about British dining; seasonal ingredients, timeless dishes and genuine warmth,” says Procter, who has overseen a multimillion-dollar refurbishment that overhauled the lobby and private rooms, added 29 suites in a vacant neighboring building, and replaced The Colony Grill, a masculine diner yet known for its transatlantic fare. “With Lisa at the helm, we’re bringing new energy to the Beaumont and reimagining what dining in Mayfair can feel like.”
Working with Executive Chef Brendan Fyldes and Executive Head Chef Jozef Rogulski, Goodwin-Allen has shaped a restaurant sure to delight London’s power-lunching set. Named in honor of Rosemary Saïd, wife of Beaumont owner Wafic Saïd, Rosi evokes nostalgic London dining with a contemporary spirit. EPR Architects crafted seductive interiors that echo the vigor of British artist Luke Edward Hall’s eight pastel-hued murals, which animate wall niches with scenes of high-society revelry. Marble tabletops in pastel tones, coral and green mohair banquettes, and Art Deco–inspired polished brass detailing mirror the exuberance of Hall’s artwork, while striped wallpaper wraps the columns in a playful nod to his vignettes.
The redesign channels the spirit of a classic Mayfair dining room reinterpreted for a new generation, paired with a menu that celebrates British comfort with flourish. “[It’s] full of dishes you really want to eat, and the atmosphere is just as inviting,” says Goodwin-Allen, who revives staples through playful composition and tableside service. Signature pies showcase seasonal game and meats, while the Old-Fashioned Pork Pie appears year-round in homage to pub favorites. English Wagyu, Lake District beef, and heritage Hereford cuts are carved tableside, joined by smoked salmon, beef tartare, and a rotating sponge. Dessert embraces theater with build-your-own sundaes and Goodwin-Allen’s version of the millionaire’s tart, a polished salute to Britain’s sweet tooth.
Beyond the dining room, Rosi affirms the Beaumont’s standing among London’s most discerning hotels. Since its 2024 renovation, the property has balanced Art Deco grandeur with contemporary ease by blending architectural heritage with fresh talent. For Goodwin-Allen, Rosi extends her craft into the capital: “It’s been a joy working with Stuart, Brendan, and Jozef to help create my London home. I hope Rosi will be embraced by Londoners, just as I have been.”
