For $5.6 million, the Belgravia home of Lady Mary Soames—late British prime minister Winston Churchill’s youngest daughter—can be yours. Located in London’s Eaton Place, the three-bedroom duplex boasts 1,980 square feet across over two floors.
The historic abode, which takes up the uppermost third and fourth floors, features a 325-square-foot rooftop terrace, a double reception room, a dining room, views of Upper Belgrave Street, and more.
On the upper floor is a primary bedroom suite with a bedroom that opens onto the Southeast-facing private rooftop terrace, as well as a walk-in dressing room, and the main bathroom, which includes a bath and a separate walk-in shower. There are also two other bedrooms and another bath on this floor.

“This lovely duplex on Eaton Place is the second Churchill family home Wetherell have managed for sale in Central London, the other being Winston Churchill’s bachelor pad on Mount Street,” says Peter Wetherell, founder and executive chairman of Wetherell. “Homes with links to the Churchill family always generate significant interest and we anticipate this charming home in one of the best addresses in Belgravia will attract many discerning potential buyers.”

The Churchills purchased this residence in the early 1960s, when Lady Soames’s husband, Sir Christopher Soames, became the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food under Prime Minister Alec Douglas-Home. Following the 1966 election, Sir Christopher lost his Parliament seat and moved with his wife to this dwelling, living here until 1969. The couple later moved to Paris.
“Offering spacious main rooms, privacy and an outside private terrace, this duplex in sought after Eaton Place is a super family home for a buyer wanting a base in Central London,” says Robert Dawson, sales director at Wetherell. “The duplex offers a buyer the layout benefits of a house with the more public reception and entertaining rooms on the lower floor and the private bedroom suites on the upper level.”

Lady Mary was known for various pursuits, including supporting her husband’s political and diplomatic duties, as well as serving various public organizations, including the Church Army, the Chair of the Royal National Theatre Board of Trustees, and the International Churchill Society.
In 1945, Churchill’s daughter was given the title Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), due to her work for the Red Cross, the Women’s Voluntary Service, and the Auxiliary Territorial Service. She went on to become a Junior Commander, which was equivalent to that of a Captain. And in 1980, she was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE), given her lifelong pursuit of public service.
