Audrey Hepburn’s Stunning Former Switzerland Home Hits the Market

The Academy Award-winning actress lived on the sprawling grounds of "Le Paisible" for 30 years, until her death in 1993

Audrey Hepburn’s longtime residence in Switzerland was recently listed for nearly $21 million. Known as “Le Paisible,” which means peaceful, the estate “offers an ideal balance of privacy and accessibility,” says listing agent Alex Koch de Gooreynd, of Knight Frank.

Located in the Swiss municipality of Tolochenaz, the historic villa boasts 10,764 square feet, 12 bedrooms, and eight baths set upon 40.33 acres. “The home’s timeless architecture, a sought-after feature among Ultra-High-Net-Worth families, only adds to its appeal. It’s easy to see why Audrey Hepburn adored the environment, where she enjoyed both complete privacy and breathtaking surroundings.”

Hepburn lived here for 30 years, from 1963 until her death, in 1993. In 2001 the main structure on the property underwent a full renovation. Inside the home features terracotta floors, five fireplaces, oak parquet flooring, and five total entrances. There is a service apartment with two bedrooms of its own. Additional amenities include a garden, a heated swimming pool, an elevator, and a nearly four-acre park with trees dating back a century. There are also two indoor garages and outdoor parking for up to 15 cars.

Given its history and architectural significance, the estate is a grade II property, meaning it is a particularly important residence.

As for the sprawling abode’s location, de Gooreynd adds, “Just a short drive from Lausanne—a dynamic alternative to Geneva with excellent schools—this charming country home provides a vast flat plot, exceptional seclusion, and ample space for a large family. With property prices nearly 40% lower than Geneva and the airport just 35 minutes away, Lausanne is an increasingly attractive option for international buyers.”
