The Collectors: Manny Khoshbin
The real estate mogul’s passion for bespoke cars has lead him to build an enviable fleet featuring examples by McLaren, Porsche, Bugatti and more
California real estate mogul Manny Khoshbin has a taste for bespoke, one-of-one editions of the world’s most exotic hypercars, which can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in three seconds flat. His sleek garage in Orange County is stocked with an enviable fleet that includes a McLaren Speedtail and McLaren P1, six Mercedes-Benz SLR McLarens, two Bugattis, one Pagani, and others. “Exclusivity is what I look for,” says Khoshbin, president and CEO of the commercial real estate firm The Khoshbin Company. “I had to be invited to get a production slot for most of my cars that I purchased new.”
French connection: Three of his cars—a McLaren Speedtail, a Bugatti Chiron, and a Pagani Huayra—were built in collaboration with Hermès. All include handbag-soft upholstery, exterior detailing, and matching luggage. “The interior fabric mixed with brown leather really makes for a beautiful contrast,” says Khoshbin of the Speedtail, the fastest car McLaren ever produced, with a top speed of 250 miles per hour. “And it doesn’t just stop at the dash and seats; it flows through the entire cabin.”
Guiding philosophy: Khoshbin’s most exclusive and valuable set of wheels, the Bugatti Chiron, was ordered in 2015 and took four years to create. Among its unique features is a custom “H” logo on the grille as well as the brand’s famous horse motif stitched onto the door panels and under the rear wing. “I look at four main factors when choosing a car to add to my collection,” he explains. “Legacy behind the brand, low production (under 500 units), design, and performance.”
